We are currently accepting submissions across genres in fiction and non-fiction
Important points to note:
We do not encourage the use of artificial intelligence tools by authors or translators to refine their manuscripts. We prefer original work and believe in the creative process of writing
We do not encourage plagiarism and reserve the right to authenticate manuscripts for their originality
We are currently not publishing poetry
We are looking for original works in fiction which are woven around the themes of:
Feminist literature and intersections
Queer literature
Historical fiction (non-jingoistic)
Anti-caste literature
Humanity and kindness
Friendships (both male friendships and female friendships)
Familial relationships (parent-child, siblings, step family, etc.)
War/ occupation situations
Emotional and mental health
We are looking for original works in non-fiction which are woven around the themes of:
History and Archaeology
Politics and current affairs
Anti-caste literature
Feminist philosophy
Economics/ economic analysis
Facts/ data-based analysis
Memoirs, Biographies, or Autobiographies
Local heroes and Oral histories
We are currently commissioning translations across languages - domestic and international, with a preference given to domestic languages. Refer fiction and non-fiction sections for further details on the type of literature we are looking for.
We are currently commissioning graphic novels for adults in non-fiction woven around the themes of:
Current affairs
Political satire
Anti-caste literature
Memoirs
Submission guidelines:
All submissions must be emailed at submissions.loudandclear.lit@gmail.com with the subject line mentioning <Genre> - <Translation/ Original work> - <Completed/ Work in progress> - <Proposed/ Existing title> - <Author/ Translator's name>
For fiction:
We request you to submit your pitches with the following details -
A brief description of the plot in not more than 800 words
A short bio of the author
Any relevant published books that could serve as a reference point
Details of previously published works (books, articles, reviews, etc), if any
A couple of paragraphs of the manuscript if it is already written
For non-fiction:
We request you to submit your pitches with the following details -
A brief description of the theme in not more than 1,500 words
The genre/ sub-genre you think the book best fits in
A short bio of the author
A couple of chapters of the manuscript if it is already written
Details of previously published works (books, articles, reviews, etc), if any
Any requirements/ requests you have for the publisher for you to successfully complete the manuscript
